The article “Low dose oral administration of cytokines for treatment of allergic asthma” (article issued on Pulmonary Pharmacology and Therapeutics 22 (2009) 497-510, doi: 10.1016/jpupt.2009.05.002) is the fruit of a two-year research study which has been carried out by the Department of Human Morphology, Biomedic Siences "Città Studi" University of Milan.
This work has shown the low-dose effects of interleukins (IL-12+IFN-gamma) to treat allergic asthma in mice.
These extraordinary results are a new frontier for the clinical use of these biological molecules, that could not be used at high pharmacological doses due to unavoidable serious side effects.
